Gongshu Canal sports park to host table tennis test events in May

Hangzhou, China, April 13, 2022: The test events for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China this September will continue next month with two table tennis competitions at Gongshu Canal Sports Park.

The competitions in May will comprehensively test the command system and the operational ability of the operations team for the Hangzhou Asian Games to be held from September 10-25.

The venue will host table tennis and breaking during the Asian Games, while the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Hockey Stadium will host the hockey tournament.

Breaking will be one of the most eye-catching sports in Hangzhou as it will be making its Asian Games debut before joining the Olympic Games programme in Paris in 2024.

Hangzhou Asian Games organising committee HAGOC reported in November that the Gongshu Canal Sports Park had passed the acceptance criteria of HAGOC.

The venue is located 26km from the Asian Games Village and has a land area of 467,800 sq metres and a gross floor area of 162,000 sq metres.

The hockey stadium has a floor area of 8,697 sq metres and a seating capacity of 5,000, while the gymnasium has a floor area of 21,500 sq metres and a capacity of 6,500 seats.
