Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, December 26, 2019: Boxer Erdenebatyn Tsendbaatar was named the Best of the Best Male Athlete of 2019 and awarded the Burte Chono Trophy, one of the most prestigious sports awards in Mongolia which is organised by the Mongolian National Olympic Committee.
Top athletes, teams, coaches, sports committees and clubs were selected through a closed poll among sports journalists of the Mongolian Sports Journalists Federation and a working group of the Mongolian NOC. This year, 70 sports journalists took part in the poll to name the country’s best athletes.
The awards ceremony was held on December 13. Among the winners were:
Best of the Best Male Athlete of the Year: Erdenebatyn Tsendbaatar (boxing)
Best of the Best Female Athlete of the Year: Ankhtsetseg Munkhjantsan (powerlifting)
Best Male Athlete of the Year: Delgernyam Davaasambuu (basketball) and Lkhagvasurengiin Otgonbaatar (judo)
Best Female Athlete of the Year: Soronzonboldyn Battsetseg (freestyle wrestling) and Monkhbatyn Urantsetseg (judo)
Best Young Athlete of the Year: Lkhagvasuren Sosorbaram (judo)
Best Team of the Year: National 3x3 basketball team
Best Coach of the Year: B. Undralbat (shooting) and S. Tulga (3x3 basketball)
Best Olympic Committee of the Year: Mongolian Wrestling Federation
Best Sports Club of the Year: Jiu Jitsu club Garuda
Best National Sports Committee: Federation of Mongolian horse racing sports
Best Non-Olympic sports association: Mongolian United Powerlifting Federation
