Dhaka, Bangladesh, April 10, 2022: Bangladesh will field a women’s football team at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou this September.
The decision was announced at a recent meeting of the Bangladesh Olympic Association executive committee at the Army Multipurpose Complex, Dhaka Cantonment. The Chief of Army Staff, Bangladesh Army, and BOA President General S.M. Shafiuddin Ahmed was in the chair.
The meeting also placed on record its gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after the Bangladesh Olympic Association received Tk20 crore (US$2,318,000) from the Prime Minister’s relief fund to facilitate the BOA’s upcoming activities.
Bangladesh will have a crowded international sports calendar this year for, along with the Asian Games, it will also participate at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in July-August and the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in August in Konya, Turkey.
It was also announced at the meeting that to help run the daily activities of the BOA a total of six sub-committees will be set up.
These sub-committees will look after training and development; solidarity; information and media; administration and purchase, medical and anti-doping; and finance, audit, planning and budget.
