Uzbekistan’s timeless gymnast Chusovitina wins World Cup gold

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, April 3, 2022: Uzbekistan's evergreen gymnast Oksana Chusovitina collected another gold medal in an illustrious career when she won the women’s vault competition at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku.

Chusovitina, an eight-time Olympic gymnast, won gold with a score of 13.266 at the FIG World Cup at the March 31-April 3 competition being held in the Azerbaijan capital.

A total of 145 gymnasts from 34 countries competed at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.

Chusovitina, 46, has won an array of medals from major international events including the Olympics (1 gold and 1 silver), World Championships (3 gold and 4 silver) and Asian Games (2 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze).

She pipped Hungary’s Cenga Maria Backai for gold in Baku on Saturday, with Slovenia’s Teja Belak claiming the bronze medal.
