Doha, Qatar, March 31, 2022: The first Qatar International Sport Engineering Conference and Exhibition took place from March 27-29 at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
The event was organised by the Qatar Engineers Society in collaboration with the Qatar Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Sport and Youth and other partners.
During a public panel discussion, Qatari swimmer Nada Mohamed Wafa Arakji highlighted the participation and outstanding achievements of Qatari women in the sports field. She shed light on her personal career and experience at the London 2012 Olympic Games and in other local, regional and international tournaments.
“By managing my time, I was able to balance my sport path and my social life. I was lucky to make my goals in life and sport possible and achievable,” Arakji said.
“As long as an athlete loves and believes in his/her game, he/she could be able to find a way to balance between social life and a sports career, and then move forward and turn the dream into reality.
“I got a lot of skills and experience and I’m trying to make them valuable in my work and sports career.”
At the end of the panel discussion, the event organisers honoured Qatari Paralympic athlete Sara Masoud and her mother as well as Arakji to show their support of the Qatari women’s sport movement and to encourage other promising Qatari athletes to turn their sport dreams into real achievements.
The conference panels focused on six main sectors: design and implementation of sports facilities and buildings; engineering and sports equipment and tools; engineering in the development of athletic skills and performance; technology and Artificial Intelligence in sport engineering; Parasport and Paralympics; and sports and mega events management and legacies.
