Kathmandu, Nepal, March 16, 2022: The Nepal Olympic Committee has announced it will hold the inaugural NOC Awards on June 23 to coincide with Olympic Day 2022.
At a meeting chaired by Nepal NOC President Hon. Jeevan Ram Shrestha on Monday, March 14, the NOC unveiled its plans to hold the first NOC Awards and revealed the composition of an independent 12-person awards selection committee.
The committee will be chaired by Gopal Sundarlal Kakshapati, NOC Member, and will include Binaya Raj Pandey, Padam Krishna Shrestha, Gopal Chitrakar, Gopal Basnyat, Mahendra Bista, Debendra Subedi, DIG Kiran Bajracharya, Geeta Shah, Rita Bista, Deepak Bista and Ashrayata Karki Chaudhary.
The panel is made up of former athletes, coaches and journalists. No office bearers and employees of the NOC are in the panel. The NOC Awards will include nine different categories.
Also present at the meeting were NOC Vice President and Executive Director Chaturananda Rajvaidya and Secretary General Nilendra Raj Shrestha.
