Shantou 2021 AYG announces creative team for Opening, & Closing ceremonies

Shantou, China, March 2, 2022: The creative team for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games was unveiled at the Shantou University East Campus Stadium - one of the competition venues for the AYG - on February 28, 2022.

Lin Ruiwu, Deputy Mayor of Shantou and Executive Deputy Director of the Shantou Executive Committee of the 3rd AYG, attended this event and presented the certificates of appointment to representatives of the creative team.

The Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Shantou 2021 AYG will be delivered by a powerful and reliable creative team that consists of 29 seasoned and technically competent experts, including Chief Director Yang Rong, Chief Planner Wang Ruixiang, Chief Producer Huang Peiling, Chief Copywriter Qiao Wei, Producer Xie Haitao, Chief Stage Designer Shen Qingping and Deputy Chief Executive Director Huang Zhihui.

Chief Director Yang has an excellent track record of masterminding Opening and Closing Ceremonies of several multi-sport events. For example, he was one of the directors of the opening ceremony of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

According to Yang, the opening and closing ceremonies will be designed in a way that can appeal to teenagers across Asia. Advanced technologies will be employed to spice up the extravaganza, portraying the good image of China and spreading Chinese culture through artistic techniques.

"Placard Bearers", a programme that aims to recruit placard bearers for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, was also launched at the event. During the ceremonies, placard bearers play a key role in presenting the positive image and elegant demeanour of young people in the host country.

To encourage nationwide participation in the AYG, the recruitment is open to candidates across the country to "Light up Your Dream with Vigor and Smile”.

The Shantou AYG will run from December 20-28, 2022.
