Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 28, 2022: Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee, met with Bill Beaumont, President of World Rugby, in Dubai last week.

Discussion centred on bilateral cooperation to boost the progress of rugby in the United Arab Emirates, with the visiting guest also being briefed on the various programmes and initiatives run by World Rugby to support the sport at all levels.

UAE NOC Vice President Falasi praised the significant progress made by rugby in the Emirates in terms of facilities and infrastructure which has made the country a perfect option for hosting international matches.

Falasi said: “The NOC, under the presidency of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is keen to support the development of all sports as well as all sportsmen and women.

“The sport of rugby in the UAE has made rapid progress under the leadership of World Rugby which is keen on supporting the UAE’s efforts in promoting the game among all segments of society. The development of the sport in the UAE is underlined by the historic feat of winning the West Asian Rugby Cups for men and women held in Doha,Qatar.”

Others attending the meeting included Qais Al Dhali, President of Asia Rugby and the Arab Rugby Federation, Engineer Azza Bint Sulaiman, Vice President of UAE Rugby, Mohammed bin Darwish, Assistant Secretary

General of UAENOC, Mohammed bin Darwish, and Alan Gilpin, CEO of World Rugby.
