Indonesia’s Polii elected BWF Athletes’ Commission Chair

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, February 17, 2022:  Indonesia’s Olympic Games badminton champion Greysia Polii has been elected Chair of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Athletes’ Commission after a vote between the six members.

With the new position, the Tokyo 2020 women’s doubles champion becomes a member of the BWF Council until the next elections in 2025 and brings a renewed sense of passion, energy and experience.

Polii said of her appointment: “I would like to assist my fellow players achieve their dreams and help out with their requests around competing on the international circuit.”

The 34-year-old Indonesian underwent a vetting process conducted by the BWF Vetting Panel as required for all Council members.

Dutch player Robin Tabeling was elected Deputy Chair by the Commission members.

Other active players on the circuit – Iris Wang (USA), Kim So-yeong (KOR), Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND) and Zheng Si Wei (CHN) - begin their positions on the new Athletes’ Commission.

The Chair of the Athletes' Commission is a voting member of the Council and is responsible for providing advice to Committees and BWF Council on issues concerning athletes.
