Tashkent, Uzbekistan, February 15, 2022: The Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee held a comprehensive medical examination for national athletes preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Monday, February 14.
The athletes who were examined by doctors from the Research and Practice Centre of Sports Medicine of the Uzbekistan NOC underwent tests ranging from blood tests to examination of internal organs and the cardiovascular system.
The head of the Centre of Sports Medicine, traumatology expert Sunnatilla Yulchiyev, said: “Among our athletes preparing for the cycle of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games there are 25 representatives of our national track and field team, and 13 of them participated in today’s investigation.
“The remaining 12 are currently being examined at the Yangiabad training base in Tashkent region. When we examine athletes, we hear their complaints and combine them with the results of the analysis. After reviewing the general condition, we will make the necessary recommendations, taking into account all areas.”
The tests involve checking the neurological status of the athletes leading to information on the functions of their brain and spinal cord. If there are any issues, athletes will have to undergo further tests.
It is planned that a report on the results of these examinations be published at a later date.
