UAE’s Tokyo Olympics team doctor receives IOC sports medicine certificate

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 13, 2022: Dr. Abdullah Rahoumi, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Committee, has been awarded a certificate of sports medicine from the International Olympic Committee.

Dr. Rahoumi is the first Emirati doctor to receive the sports medicine certificate from the IOC. He was involved in a recent IOC study on preventive measures of various infections during competitions and sports injuries.

Dr. Rahoumi was the team doctor of the UAE delegation at the Tokyo Olympics, and his main mission was to closely monitor the health of all the athletes and other members of the delegation, and adhere to the health protocols and guidelines of the Tokyo Games organising committee. 

He thanked UAE NOC President Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his sincere leadership and expressed gratitude for the unlimited support and the opportunity to be involved in the unique scientific study initiated by the IOC.
