China, Japan in Top 10 medal rankings after Week 1 of Beijing 2022

Beijing, China, February 12, 2022: After the first week of the Winter Olympics, Asia has two National Olympic Committees in the Top 10 teams of Beijing 2022 and a third NOC not far behind.

Japan is 10th in the rankings with two gold, two silver and four bronze medals for eight medals in total, while Korea has one gold, one silver and one bronze and is ranked joint 16th.

So far, 26 of the 91 NOCs have won at least one medal, and 20 of these have won gold.

The Winter Olympics opened on Friday, February 4, so Friday, February 11 marked the end of the first week of competition. The Games will close on Sunday, February 20.

The Top 10 teams with gold, silver, bronze and total medals is:
