Lahore, Pakistan, February 4, 2022: The Pakistan Olympic Association held its Executive Council and General Council meetings on January 30 and 31 respectively under the chairmanship of POA President Lt Gen (retd.) Syed Arif Hasan.
The meetings were held in hybrid fashion, both virtual and physical, and discussed various important matters including Pakistan’s friendship with China and sending best wishes to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
At the General Council meeting last Monday, January 31, the Secretary General’s report on the Pakistan Olympic Association and the reports of the chairs of various POA commissions and committees were tabled.
The POA’s audited report for 2020-2021 was also presented along with budget estimates for the financial years of 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.
Also discussed was the hosting of the 14th South Asian Games in 2023 and the 34th National Games in Quetta.
Participation in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China this September, the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games, the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Shantou, China, in December 2022 was also deliberated.
The elections of provincial and other Olympic Associations and the situation of the Olympic Movement in Pakistan were also taken up.
