Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games host broadcaster to showcase 'noble' city to the world

Hangzhou, China, January 25, 2022: Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games host broadcaster, China Media Group, has promised to showcase the city in the same light as seen by intrepid explorer Marco Polo when he visited China 700 years ago.

This was an undertaking made by the host broadcaster to TV rights-holding broadcasters from around Asia during the first World Broadcasters Meeting for Hangzhou 2022 on Tuesday, January 25.

“Seven hundred years ago Marco Polo visited Hangzhou and he described the city as the noblest city in the world. We will prove that with our broadcast of the Asian Games,” said a spokesman for China Media Group on the second and last day of the first World Broadcasters Meeting for Hangzhou 2022.

CMG, China’s leading sports broadcaster, who will televise the Olympic Council of Asia’s 19th Asian Games from September 10-25, has pledged viewers will get an immersive watching experience of high-quality.

Their package will include two 54-minute summaries each day plus a series of five-minute "golden moments" specials.

There will be 40 sports – 31 of them Olympic sports – and 61 disciplines making up a total of 482 events which will be held across 55 competition venues.

“Our coverage philosophy will be based on four principles: unbiased coverage; athletic performance, graphics and victory ceremonies,” the CMG said in a detailed presentation.

The meeting was held in a hybrid format, with sports and broadcasting leaders gathering in Hangzhou and Beijing and the OCA joining online from Kuwait along with broadcast rights-holders from across Asia.

They heard that the International Broadcast Centre, which will be the heart of the transmission service and situated at the Hangzhou International Expo Centre, will become fully operational from August 20, 2022. The IBC will cover an area of 9,600 sq meters in Exhibition Hall 1D, next to the Main Press Centee in Hall C.

The second World Broadcasters Meeting is scheduled for June 2.

The OCA praised the "clear vision" of China Media Group while HAGOC thanked the broadcasters for their input and commitment to showing a spectacular Asian Games.
