Tashkent, Uzbekistan, January 25, 2022: The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan has congratulated Elmar Aminov, former President of the Uzbekistan Football Association, on his 90th birthday on Sunday, January 23.
Uzbekistan NOC President Rustam Shaabdurakhmonov, Secretary General Oybek Kasimov, representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and a number of football veterans were on hand to celebrate the 90th birthday of Aminov at the NOC headquarters.
“We will never forget your contribution to the development of our sport for many years to come. We have made progress thanks to your dedication and the experience you accumulated over the years,” Shaabdurakhmonov said.
Aminov, who was President of the Football Federation of the USSR in 1956, led the Soviet Union delegation at the 1966 World Cup in England. He was elected as the first President of the independent Uzbekistan Football Association from 1992 to 1994. Uzbekistan won Asian Games football gold in Hiroshima in 1994, beating China 4-2 in the final.
