Hangzhou, China, January 19, 2022: The Olympic Council of Asia and Hangzhou 2022 will reach another milestone next week with the hosting of the first World Broadcasters Meeting for the 19th Asian Games.

The meeting will be held in a hybrid format over two days – Monday and Tuesday, January 24-25 – with participants attending at the HQ of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) and also online, including the OCA HQ in Kuwait.

The meeting provides an opportunity to show broadcasters what progress has been made in the preparations for the 19th Asian Games in September 2022 and also to listen to advice from rights-holding broadcasters, thus laying a solid foundation for the work going forward.

On-site participants will be from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, General Administration of Sport of China, China National Radio and Television Administration, China Media Group (CMG), Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Publicity Department of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee, Sports Bureau of Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou Sports Bureau, Department of Foreign Affairs of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, Foreign Affairs Office of Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, Hangzhou Customs and HAGOC's departments/offices.

The on-line participants will be OCA officials, Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) officials, representatives of rights-holding broadcasters, venue operation teams and representatives of co-host cities and relevant organisations.

The two-day meeting will begin on Monday afternoon (Beijing time) with a 30-minute opening ceremony featuring a promotional video and welcome addresses from the OCA and HAGOC.

This will be followed by a series of presentations from various HAGOC departments focusing on preparations related to the rights-holding broadcasters such as the sports programme, arrival and departure, broadcast services, press operations, finance, venues, technology, accreditation, Media Village, accommodation, transport and logistics.

The second day will feature a presentation by the host broadcaster on preparations for the Asian Games, including broadcast operations at the International Broadcast Centre and competition venues, production plan, broadcasting schedule, logistics and delivery and engineering technology, and a presentation on broadcasting services including services for rights-holders.
