Singapore, January 12, 2022: The Southeast Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (SEARADO) and the Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on enhancing cooperation on clean sport on Wednesday, January 12.
The two anti-doping bodies signed their first MOU in 2014 and renewed this agreement, in partnership with the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, in 2017.
This third agreement will build on the solid foundations from the previous eight years and will allow the National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADO) in the SEA region to move to the next level in this crucial aspect of the Olympic sports movement.
The MOU encourages collaboration and cooperation with an interest to develop anti-doping programmes and to enhance the capacity of staff and NADOs of member countries in the SEA region.
Areas covered have included education, doping control and athlete engagement, while future focuses will be on enhancing governance, programme development and capacity building related to 2021 WADA Code compliance and better practices.
The MOU was signed by JADA Chair Prof. Hidenori Suzuki and Dr Patrick Goh, Chair of SEARADO.
