Jakarta, Indonesia, January 4, 2022: The National Olympic Committee of Indonesia has congratulated Olympic badminton champion Greysia Polii on being elected to the Athletes’ Commission of the Badminton World Federation.

The Tokyo 2020 women's doubles gold medallist received 126 votes, 10 fewer than Iris Wang of the United States, who topped the poll with 136 votes.

The four other candidates elected for the BWF Athletes’ Commission were Robin Tabeling (Netherlands), Tokyo 2020 women's doubles bronze medalist Kim So-yeong (Korea), Tokyo 2020 women's singles bronze medallist PV Sindhu (India) and Tokyo 2020 mixed doubles silver medalist Zheng Siwei (China). The new commission will serve until the next election in 2025.

“It's Greysia's second installment as the Commission's member. Previously, she served during the 2013-2017 term,” Indonesia NOC said on their official website (Indonesia Olympic Commitee)

BWF organised the election during the TotalEnergies BWF World Championships 2021 in Huelva, Spain last month, while athletes could also cast their votes online.
