Kyrgyzstan President awards honour to OCA Vice President Otabek Umarov

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, December 30, 2021: The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, has awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to the head of the Central Asian Mixed Martial Arts Confederation, Otabek Umarov.

Umarov is a Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia and the son-in-law of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoev.

Umarov was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation “for his significant contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of culture and sports."

The Uzbek sports official was appointed head of the Central Asian MMA Confederation in February 2020 and Vice President of the OCA in December of the same year in connection with the 2025 Asian Youth Games in Tashkent.

The Confederation unites the national MMA associations of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
