Hangzhou 2022 announces completion of Media Village

Hangzhou, China, December 22, 2021: The Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) has announced that the Media Village has passed the completion acceptance on December 21.

Construction began in June 2018 and the Media Village has been finished in good time for pre-Games operation and management tests in the lead up to the 19th Asian Games next September.

The Media Village will provide accommodation, catering, leisure and entertainment services for about 5,000 media staff during the Asian Games.

It is located in the northwest corner of the main Asian Games Village, covering an area of 19.6 hectares and with a total floor area of 381,100 square metres on the ground. 

After the Asian Games, the Media Village will be used for rental housing and supporting infrastructure and also includes a kindergarten with 18 classrooms and a primary school with 18 classrooms.

The Asian Games Village is located 3km from the Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Centre and includes the Athletes’ Village (capacity 10,400 athletes and team officials) and Technical Officials’ Village (3,800) as well as the Media Village (5,000).

There are also five satellite villages to serve the 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 482 events in 55 competition venues throughout Zhejiang province in eastern China for the 19th Asian Games, which will run from September 10-25, 2022.
