Asian Beach Games prodigy Aaliyah qualifies for World Games 2022

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, December 21, 2021: The International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) has announced the list of athletes to represent their respective Federations at The World Games 2022 to be held in Birmingham, Alabama, from July 7-17.

The list includes Malaysian prodigy Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah, 18, who took part in the OCA’s second Asian Beach Games at Muscat, Oman in 2010 at the age of only seven. She will compete in the Open Women Tricks.

Waterski disciplines (slalom, trick and jump) and wakeboarding will be held at Oak Mountain State Park from July 14-16.

This will be the 11th edition of The World Games showcasing 3,600 athletes from more than 100 countries and regions, competing in 34 sports. 

IWWF has been part of every edition since the beginning, being one of the founding members of The World Games. 

Waterski Athlete Selection List – Slalom, Trick & Jump

Total 54 athletes (maximum 11 men and 7 women per medal discipline). The selection criteria for waterskiing is based on the November 30, 2021 weekly ranking List. They include:

*Men’s Tricks: ZHONG, Junjie (CHN)

*Women’s Jump: HIROSAWA, Saaya (JPN)

*Men’s Jump: JEONG, Ji-Min (KOR)

*Women’s Tricks: YOONG HANIFAH, Aaliyah (MAS)
