OCA, HAGOC hold technical delegate conference for 19th Asian Games

Hangzhou, China, December 15, 2021: The Olympic Council of Asia and Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) held the Technical Delegate Conference on Wednesday, December 15 via video conference with the participation of over 300 stakeholders.

The OCA was represented by Song Luzeng, Vice President and Chairman of the OCA Sports Committee, and by Haider Farman, Director of the Asian Games and Competition Department.

HAGOC was represented by Zhang Yadong, Deputy Secretary General and Deputy Director of Zhejiang Provincial Sports Bureau; Chen Weiqiang, Deputy Secretary General and Deputy Mayor of Hangzhou; Mao Genhong, Deputy Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General of Hangzhou Municipal Government; and Jin Chenglong, Director of Hangzhou Sports Bureau.

The other participants included technical delegates of Asian and International Sport Federations, HAGOC departments and competition venues management and staff.

Gao Zhidan, Vice Chairman of HAGOC, Vice Minister of the State General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) and Vice President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, delivered a speech in video form.

HAGOC reported in detail on the preparations in 14 key areas: competition management, anti-doping, accreditation, arrival and departure, press operations, broadcasting services, venue construction, technology services, transportation, uniforms, Asian Games Village, catering, accommodation and medical services including pandemic countermeasures.

To prepare for the meeting, HAGOC experts visited all 55 competition venues within the past three months and shared Virtual Reality venue videos with Technical Delegates and Competition Managers prior to the conference to present the photo displays, operation flow in the field and functional areas.

On behalf of HAGOC, Chen Weiqiang pointed out that Hangzhou would do a thorough job in pandemic prevention and control and provide a safe and orderly working environment for the technical delegates.

HAGOC will also build a bridge between the competition venue managers and the technical delegates to ensure a smooth build-up to the 19th Asian Games, which will run from September 10-25, 2022 in Hangzhou and five co-host cities in Zhejiang province in eastern China. There will be 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 482 events.

After the conference, venue operation teams will schedule one-on-one meetings with the relevant Technical Delegates and Competition Managers to further discuss the preparatory work.
