Mongolia NOC member becomes sports press union president

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, December 14, 2021: A member of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, Tsagaanbaatar Byambaa, was elected President of the Mongolian Sports Press Union (MSPU) during its Electoral Congress at Olympic House in Ulaanbaatar. 

The 79 delegates also elected the new Committee for the period 2021-2025. 

MSPU was established in 1990 and became affiliated to AIPS (International Sports Press Association) in 1992 during the 55th AIPS Congress in Budapest, Hungary. 

B. Tsagaanbaatar is a professional sports journalist, starting at the "Tavan Tsagarig - Five Rings" newspaper in 1996. He has covered five editions of the Olympic Games and 10 Asian Games.  

He is also Secretary General of Mongolia Triathlon, Chair of the Technical Committee of the Asian Triathlon Union and an international referee. He officiated at the 2018 Asian Games and at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. 

Aged 47, B. Tsagaanbaatar, 47, is the fifth MSPU President. The previous presidents were S. Tuvdennyam (1990-1997), Ts. Baldorj (1997-2005), J. “Oto” Otgontsagaan (2005-2013) and Ch. Otgonbaatar "Sato” (2013-2021).
