Kyrgyz Republic NOC elects Sadyr Mamytov as new president

Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, December 14, 2021: The Olympic Council of Asia has congratulated Sadyr Mamytov on his election as President of the National Olympic Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic on December 10.

In a letter dated December 11, the OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam said it was an honour he richly deserved.

“I am sure that the confidence imposed in you by the General Assembly will go a long way in further developing the Olympic Movement in Kyrgyzstan,” said the OCA Director General, before assuring him of the total support of the OCA.

The President of the Doha-based Asian Equestrian Federation, Hamad bin Abdul Rahman Al-Attiyah, also congratulated Sadyr Mamytov.

“This reflects your hard work, dedication and efforts that have been made in the past to promote and develop equestrianism at your national as well as international levels and the trust of your nation and members in you,” he said. “I am honoured to have you as a Board Member of the Asian Equestrian Federation.”

Bader Mohammed Al Darwish, President of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, wrote: “We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and assure you of our unwavering support while we look forward to closer bilateral cooperation.”

The President of the NOC of Uzbekistan, Rustam Shoabdurakhmanov, added his congratulations and best wishes and commented: "The result of the presidential election shows high confidence in you and is recognition of your successful activities in the field of sports and the Olympic movement. I wish you good health, prosperity and significant achievements in the execution of the entrusted authority in this high and responsible post." 

Sadyr Mamytov, 52, won a two-way election on December 10 and his term will run to 2024. He is President of the Equestrian Sports Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic and a member of the Olympic Council of Asia Finance Committee.

He said the sports authorities in Bishkek needed to develop many sports, especially those in which their athletes had a good chance to qualify for the Olympic Games and challenge for medals on the international stage.

“We should support talented athletes regardless of the sport they represent. Everyone must be provided with everything they need, participate in international tournaments and gain experience," he said.
