Chinese tennis star Li Na delivers talk at University of Macau

Macau, China, December 9, 2021: Four top tennis players - including retired two-time Grand Slam champion Li Na of China - have shared some inspirational tips with aspiring young players at a Youth Talk at the University of Macau (UM) on Wednesday, December 8.

Li, 39, was joined by two of China’s hopes for the future, Hua Runhao and Zhu Aiwen, and UM alumnus Sharon Au Ieong, one of Macau’s top athletes and flag bearer at the Asian Games, reports the Macao News.

They shared their experiences as professional athletes and spoke of the hard work that goes into training in an effort to encourage more youngsters to get involved in sports in the future.

Hua, Zhu and Macao’s Ieong also spoke up to encourage more young people to get involved in sport.

Li won nine titles on the women’s tour, including the French Open in 2011 and Australian Open in 2014, and earned over 16 million USD in prize money during her career.

The talk was organised by SJM Resorts, title sponsor of the 2021 CTA Tour SJM Professional Finals (Macao) and National Tennis Championships and the Chinese Tennis Association.

SJM Chairman Daisy Ho commented: “With the support of the Chinese Tennis Association, SJM is honoured to have invited Li Na and other talented players to the Youth Talk.

“Dedicated to the development of sports and to the nurturing of future talents, we hope that through this sharing session students can gain a deeper understanding about the achievements of China in sports, and take pride in working together.”
