Kathmandu, Nepal, December 7, 2021: The Nepal Olympic Committee welcomed the newly appointed Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, Tankalal Ghising, at a special ceremony at the Olympic Headquarters in Satdobato on Monday, December 6.
Nepal NOC President Hon. Jeevan Ram Shrestha wished the senior government sports official a successful tenure and called for increased cooperation between the National Sports Council and the NOC and national sports federations.
Member Secretary Ghising stated that a decision had been made to focus on the national team across all sports, and preliminary discussions were held with NOC officials on Nepal’s participation at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, in September 2022.
Talks centred on the number of athletes Nepal was likely to send to the Asian Games, the performance requirements and medal prospects. Other international competitions were also looked at.
NOC Secretary General Nilendra Raj Shrestha and Vice President and Executive Director Chaturananda Raj Vaidya also participated in the discussions.
