Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 21, 2021: The next major sporting event under the umbrella of the Olympic Council of Asia, the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, promises to be a memorable event, according to the Acting President of the OCA, Raja Randhir Singh.

In his opening address at the 40th OCA General Assembly in Dubai on Sunday, November 21, Raja Randhir said the preparations for the Hangzhou Asian Games “are in full swing”.

"We have been assured that the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou will be a memorable event. Preparations are in full swing and I sincerely hope that things will be back to normal next year. The OCA is also coordinating closely with the organising committees of other Games in Asia coming up.”

Addressing the NOCs who joined the General Assembly online, Randhir Singh said: “We are truly sorry that you cannot be here with us, but we understand the situation. And for those of you who have managed to attend in-person, thank you for your support.”

Raja Randhir thanked the United Arab Emirates NOC and the Dubai Sports Council for putting on a “grand show” at the Dubai Hilton Al Habtoor City.

“Dubai is a dynamic sports city and I take great pleasure in welcoming all of you to this beautiful city,” he said.

In closing, the Acting President paid tribute to OCA Director General Dr. Husain Al-Musallam on his election to the presidency of FINA last June.

“On behalf of the Asian sporting family I congratulate Dr. Husain Al-Musallam who has been elected as President of FINA. We wish you all the best.”
