Manila, Philippines, November 18, 2021: The Philippines’ Tokyo 2020 golden hero, Hidilyn Diaz, has teamed up with the fast-food giant Jollibee to help young athletes reach their dream.

Diaz made global headlines at Tokyo in the summer when winning weightlifting gold for her country – the first gold medal in the 97-year Olympic Games history of the Philippines going back to 1924.

Now, in partnership with Jollibee, she is raising money to help fund young athletes in the hope they can follow her to Olympic glory.

Jollibee has created a Champ & Joy Super Meal in which a portion of the proceeds from every purchase will be given to the Philippine Olympic Committee Athletes’ Commission.

Jollibee executive Arline Adeva said: “Jollibee has always believed in the heart and strength of Filipinos and that we can shine even at a global stage.

“Together with Hidilyn, we want to help nurture and support more Filipino athletes so they, too, can reach their dreams and continue bringing pride and inspiration to the country.”

Hidilyn also plans to donate weightlifting equipment for the grassroots programme of the Philippine Sports Commission.
