Singapore, November 17, 2021: The Singapore National Olympic Council and Southeast Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (SEARADO) have paid tribute to Dr Teh Kong Chuan, who passed away on Wednesday. Dr Teh was Chairman of the SNOC Medical Commission.
“Dr Teh served the SNOC and the Olympic Movement on many occasions and in many capacities,” the SNOC said.
“As a leading pioneer sports medicine doctor in Singapore, he was team physician to Team Singapore at many editions of the SEA Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games.
“He also contributed actively to the SEA Games Federation’s Medical Committee. In 2009, Dr Teh was awarded the IOC Trophy themed ‘Sport and the Fight against Doping’ for his lifelong work in promoting clean sport and doping control.
“Our deepest condolences to Dr Teh’s wife and family. Rest in peace, Doc.”
SEARADO also extended their deepest condolences to the family of Dr Teh.
“Dr Teh was one of the pioneers in Singapore and the region who was involved in the fight against doping, apart from his main role as a sports medicine doctor,” SEARADO said.
“Playing a key role in Singapore National Olympic Council’s medical committee, he has always been magnanimous and forthcoming to assist, as well as provide his professional inputs.
“During the 2015 SEA Games held in Singapore, Dr Teh was instrumental in reviewing the SEA Games Anti-Doping Rules to be in line with the then revised Code in 2015 and also ensured the charter was all reviewed, changed and aligned - a great contribution to Singapore and the region.
“Dr Teh’s calm demeanour and friendly approach to all will always be remembered. May his soul Rest in Peace.”
