Tehran, Iran, November 2, 2021: Peyman Fakhri has been appointed as the Chef de Mission of the Iran delegation for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
The National Olympic Committee of Iran, at its 94th Executive Board meeting on Sunday, October 31, picked the former national fencer as the head of the Iranian delegation for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou from September 10 to 25, 2022.
The meeting was chaired by the President of the Iranian NOC, Dr. Reza Salehi Amiri, at the National Olympic Academy.
Fakhri, the Director of the Iranian NOC’s national team monitoring centre, was deputy Chef de Mission at the re-scheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. He had previously been picked as leader of the Iranian delegation for the 2020 Asian Beach Games in Sanya which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Iranian NOC Executive Board also decided that a representative of the Ministry of Sports and Youth would also be a part of the delegation for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
At the beginning of the meeting, NOC President Amiri presented a report on his trip to the ANOC General Assembly in Crete, Greece, last month. In it he said the Iran NOC delegation had met a number of top officials of the International Olympic Committee, as well as presidents and secretaries of International Federations and other National Olympic Committees.
