Dili, Timor Leste, October 26, 2021: The Timor Leste National Olympic Committee has inaugurated its first Athlete Commission for the term 2021-2025.
A General Assembly was held in Dili on October 23 and elected a Board of Directors with a term of office of four years.
Ms. Francelina “Anche” Marques Cabral (cycling) was elected as Chair, Mr. Martinho F. de Araujo (weightlifting) as Vice Chair and Ms. Mariana Dias Ximenes (athletics) as Secretary. The new commission has 10 members in addition to the executives listed.
This is the first time NOC Timor Leste has established or elected an Athlete Commission.
The NOC Vice President, Mr. Mateus da Cruz de Carvalho, and Secretary General Laurentino Guterres inaugurated the Athlete Commission on October 23, 2021 under Article 27 of NOC Timor Leste in coordination with the National Athlete Commission.
“We are looking forward to continuing our cooperation with you for the development of sport and the Olympic Movement in Timor Leste and around the globe,” the NOC Vice President said in a letter to the OCA Director General, Husain Al Musallam.
The officers and members for the term 2021-2025 are: Chair, Francelina Marques Cabral; Vice Chair, Martinho F. de Araujo; Secretary, Mariana Dias Ximenes. Members (10): Imelda Felicyta Xemenes Belo, Jose Joao da Silva Viegas, Aguida Fatima Amaral, Juventina Napoleao, Augusto Ramos Soares, Felisberto de Deus, Victor Ramos, Calisto da Costa, Nelia Martins and Gil Trindade da Conceicao.
