Crete, Greece, October 25, 2021: Seoul will organise the next ANOC General Assembly in October 2022 – two years after the Korean capital was due to host the event in 2020.

The two-day XXV ANOC General Assembly concluded on the Greek island of Crete on Monday, when the host of the XXVI General Assembly was announced.

Seoul was due to host the ANOC General Assembly in 2020 as part of the centenary celebrations to mark the founding of the Olympic movement in Korea with the establishment of the Chosun Sports Council on July 13, 1920. The Olympic body eventually became the Korean Sport and Olympic Committee in March 2016 with the merger of the Korean Olympic Committee and the Korea Council of Sport for All.

The planned Seoul meeting in 2020 was postponed one year to 2021 due to the pandemic but then moved to Greece, paving the way for ANOC to award next year’s General Assembly to the Korean capital following the recommendation of the ANOC Executive Council.

The dates for the Seoul gathering will be October 17-21, 2022.

ANOC announced that 148 of the 205 National Olympic Committees around the world attended the XXV General Assembly in Greece from October 24-25 and the remaining 57 NOCs connected virtually in the hybrid format.
