Bahrain Olympic Committee signs four-year memorandum of cooperation with Russian counterpart

Manama, Bahrain, October 24, 2021: The Bahrain Olympic Committee has signed a joint memorandum of cooperation with the Russian Olympic Committee aimed at developing bilateral cooperation in sports between the two countries.

The memorandum was signed by Bahrain Olympic Committee President, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, and Russian Olympic Committee President, Stanislav Pozdnyakov in Athens, Greece on Saturday, October 23. Also present at the signing was BOC Secretary General Mohamed Hasan Al-Nusuf.

The Bahrain Olympic Committee officials had stopped over in Athens on their way to Crete for the 2021 ANOC General Assembly.

BOC President Sheikh Khalid expressed his great pleasure at the signing of the memorandum, lauding Russia’s outstanding position at the Olympic level and said the bilateral cooperation would help boost the development of sports in the Kingdom.

The memorandum, which will be in force until December 2025, will open the door for training camps as well as the exchange of visits by sports teams between both countries.

Sheikh Khalid also revealed that the Bahrain Olympic Committee would look at signing similar agreements with other leading National Olympic Committees so as to benefit from their advanced technical and management skills in a bid to develop the Olympic movement in Bahrain.
