Manila, Philippines, October 22, 2021: The stage is set for the 2021 Philippine Swimming, Inc. (PSI) national selection bubble starting on Friday at New Clark City Aquatics Center in Capas, Tarlac, CNN Philippines reports.
The swimming competition of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games was held at this new venue in December 2019 and a new batch of swimming hopefuls will enter the pool with a view to selection for the national team.
There will be two main targets for the swimmers attending the meet – trying to qualify for the 15th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Abu Dhabi, UAE from December 16-21, 2021 and for the 19th FINA World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan from May 13-29, 2002.
“We hope that the event can show to the youth that we can rise again and recover from this pandemic. We hope to encourage current swimmers to train even more to reach their dreams," PSI President Lailani Velasco said in a statement.
A total of 71 swimmers will compete in the three-day event sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority and the Clark Development Corporation.
