Iraq NOC chief Hammoudi receives assurance of Chinese sports support

Baghdad, Iraq, October 20, 2021: The President of the Iraq National Olympic Committee, Raad Hammoudi, met with the Deputy Ambassador of China to Iraq, Jian Fangning on Sunday, October 17.

The meeting revolved around close cooperation between the two countries in sports with Iraq’s NOC chief Hammoudi saying he was looking forward to Chinese help in developing Iraqi athletes.

Hammoudi said he hoped China could facilitate the development of local athletes with an eye on participation at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In turn the Deputy Ambassador assured his country’s full support for Iraqi athletes and said China was more than willing to host them and provide the necessary training facilities as well as technical coaching expertise.

The meeting was also attended by the Secretary General of the Iraq National Olympic Committee, Haitham Abdulhameed, and NOC treasurer, Ahmed Sabry.
