Nepal NOC officials pay courtesy call to congratulate new Minister of Sport

Kathmandu, Nepal, October 19, 2021: The President of the Nepal Olympic Committee, Hon. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, paid a courtesy call on Monday, October 18 to congratulate the country’s newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj.

NOC President Shrestha, who conveyed his best wishes to the new Sports Minister for a successful tenure, was accompanied on his visit by NOC Vice Presidents Chaturananda Raj Baidhya, Sunil Kumar Shrestha and Ashok Bajracharya and NOC Secretary General Nilendra Raj Shrestha.

Minister Gahatraj told the NOC officials that he had a vision for the development of the overall sports sector and would implement it soon.

In an earlier interview with the Nepal media, Gahatraj was quoted as saying: “I have been thinking about how to develop the sports field. I will make these thoughts public at the appropriate time, when the basis for working has been prepared. Now I am preparing the ground.”

He had also praised the spirited performance of the Nepal men’s national football team which finished as runners-up to India at the South Asian Football Federation Championship in Male, Maldives, last Saturday. October 16.
