OCM sets up task force for HQ relocation

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, October 5, 2021: The Olympic Council of Malaysia has set up a task force to work on the relocation of the OCM headquarters.

The OCM reports that, at the 198th meeting of the Executive Council, held virtually on September 25, the relocation of the HQ from the current Wisma OCM address on Jalan Hang Jebat in Kuala Lumpur was at the top of the agenda.

The task force will be headed by Datuk Haji Hamidin, OCM Deputy President, and will explore a new location for OCM Headquarters taking into consideration the needs of the OCM regarding office space and sports facilities for the OCM, its members, athletes and other stakeholders.

The task force will initiate discussion with the Government and other relevant stakeholders and look into the next steps, such as the conceptualization of a new design, identify the location and funding.

The Executive Council meeting was chaired by the OCM President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria. 

Other business included the appointment of the Chairperson of OCM Standing Committees and Representatives of OCM as follows: 

Selection Committee, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria; Marketing & Sponsorship, Datuk Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin; OCM Multi-Sports Games, YB Dato’ Shahrul Zaman Yahya; Women and Sport, Dato’ Paduka Mumtaz Jaffar; Building & Facilities, Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt; General Purpose & Awards, Dato’ Paduka Nur Azmi Ahmad; Sport Museum & Hall of Fame, Datuk Wira Megat Zulkarnain Tan Sri Omardin.

Management & Administration, Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin; Finance, Dato’ Ahmad Feisal Ahmad Tajuddin; Education & Training, Ms. Moira Tan Siew See; Strategic Planning, Datuk Mohd Nasir Ali; Legal Advisory, Disciplinary & Alternate Dispute Resolution, Dato’ Sri Jahaberdeen Mohd Yunoos; Medical & Anti-Doping, Dato’ Dr. SS Cheema; National Olympic Academy, Mr. Nicholas Chan.

In addition to appointing the Chair of the Committees, the Executive Council gave the mandate to the Executive Board to appoint members into each of these Committees.

*OCM representative to the Board of the National Sports Institute, Y.B. Dato’ Shahrul Zaman Yahya; OCM Trust Fund member, Datuk Mohd Nasir Ali.

*The Chef de Mission was appointed for upcoming multi-sport games: Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Moira Tan; 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Thailand 2022, Datuk Wira Megat Zulkarnain Tan Sri Omardin; Commonwealth Games Birmingham 2022, YB Dato’ Shahrul Zaman Yahya; 5th Islamic Solidarity Games Konya, Dato’ Ahmad Feisal Ahmad Tajuddin; 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt; 3rd Asian Youth Games Shantou 2022, Dato’ Paduka Mumtaz Jaffar; 31st SEA Games Vietnam 2022, Dato’ Paduka Nur Azmi Ahmad.

*OCM will open applications for Olympic Solidarity monthly stipends scholarships for athletes and teams who are targeting the Olympic Games Paris 2024. 

*the members of the OCM requested a more coordinated approach to consolidate the Standing Operating Procedures (SOP) in terms of the reopening the sports industry.
