Hangzhou, China, September 29, 2021: Organisers of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in September 2022 have announced details of the 1st World Press Briefing to be held next month.
The briefing will be conducted online from October 17-19 and will update the media from the Olympic Council of Asia’s 45 National Olympic Committees on the procedures and requirements to attend the 19th Asian Games.
The first day - Sunday, October 17 - will be reserved for testing the Zoom connection and the digital interpretation service for the media throughout the continent.
The briefing proper will begin the next day with a 30-minute opening ceremony followed by a general presentation on the overall preparations as well as specific items such as the sports programme and venue construction.
The briefing will continue with the presentation on press operations, including an overview of the Main Media Centre which houses the Main Press Centre and International Broadcast Centre, the Venue Media Centres, photography operations and media information and support services.
Other topics will include health and epidemic prevention, logistics, transportation, accommodation, food and beverage and Media Village operations.
A more general presentation will focus on the accreditation process, the opening and closing ceremonies and the identity and look of the Asian Games.
The third and final day of the briefing, Tuesday, October 19, will be available for one-on-one meetings and an OCA media conference.
The 19th Asian Games will run from September 10-25, 2022, in Hangzhou – capital of Zhejiang province in eastern China – as well as five co-host cities. There will be 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 482 events, with 5 million tickets available for over 600 sports sessions.
The Main Media Centre will take up two exhibition halls of the Hangzhou International Expo Centre next to the Olympic Park.
The Media Village (capacity 5,000) will be located at the main Asian Games Village along with the Athletes’ Village (10,400 athletes and officials) and Technical Officials’ Village (3,800), although official hotels in the city and throughout the province will also be available for the media.
