Dubai, United Arab Emirates, September 27, 2021: The United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee has congratulated Osama Al Shafar, President of the Asian Cycling Confederation, on being elected as a Vice President of the International Cycling Union (UCI).
The Management Committee of the UCI met soon after the Congress in Brussels, Belgium last Friday, September 24, where they elected four Vice Presidents for the next four years.

Al Shafar has been President of the Asian governing body since 2017, having retained his position in elections last March in Dubai.
David Lappartient, who was re-elected UCI President at the Congress, said: “I would like to congratulate my four Vice Presidents for their election, and I look forward to working with them over the next four years.”
The UCI Management Committee also co-opted as a member China’s Ms. Yuan Yuan, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation and Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Cycling Association.
