Korea drawn in China for women’s basketball Olympic qualifier

Mies, Switzerland, December 5, 2019: The official draws for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2020 for both women and men took place at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball, FIBA headquarters. The four FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, taking place from February 6-9, 2020 will be played in Belgium, China, France and Serbia: Belgrade, Serbia: Nigeria, USA, Serbia, Mozambique Bourges, France: France, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Australia Foshan, China: Korea, China, Great Britain, Spain Ostend, Belgium: Canada, Japan, Sweden, Belgium The top three teams from each of these tournaments will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 champions USA and Olympic Games hosts Japan will play in the qualification tournaments but will compete in Tokyo 2020 regardless of their results. The four men's FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, taking place from June 23-28, 2020 will be played in Canada, Croatia, Lithuania and Serbia: Belgrade, Serbia: Group A - Dominican Republic, New Zealand, Serbia. Group B - Puerto Rico, Italy, Senegal. Kaunas, Lithuania: Group A - Lithuania, Korea, Venezuela. Group B - Poland, Slovenia, Angola. Split, Croatia: Group A - Germany, Russia, Mexico. Group B - Tunisia, Croatia, Brazil. Victoria, Canada: Group A - Greece, China, Canada. Group B - Uruguay, Czech Republic, Turkey The winners of the four tournaments will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
