Tokyo, Japan, September 2, 2021: Uzbekistan’s Khusniddin Norbekov won his second gold medal in successive Paralympic Games - this time in the men's shot put - at Tokyo 2020 on Thursday, September 2.
Norbekov, who made his Paralympics debut at London 2012, has always competed in both the shot put and discus. At Rio 2016 he won the discus gold medal.
Now, five years later, he has followed that up by claiming gold in the shot put in Tokyo, winning with a season’s best effort of 16.13 metres. Argentina’s Emanuel Urra claimed the silver with a throw of 15.90m while the bronze went to China’s Fu Xinhan who threw 15.41.
Norbekov’s shot put gold has taken his country’s medal tally to 16 – six gold, four silver and six bronze medals – at Tokyo 2020.
