Uzbekistan NOC honours Tokyo 2020 heroes with Independence Day commemorative medals

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, September 3, 2021: Uzbekistan’s medal-winning athletes at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics were awarded with commemorative medals to celebrate the 30 years of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

President of the Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee, Rustam Shoabdurakhmonov, handed out the medals to the five athletes at a ceremony held at the NOC headquarters in Tashkent on Thursday, September 2.

The five athletes were gold medallists Bakhodir Jalolov (boxing), Ulugbek Rashitov (taekwondo) and Akbar Djuraev (weightlifting), and bronze medallists Davlat Bobonov (judo) and Bekzod Abdurakhmonov (wrestling).

The Uzbekistan NOC chief once again commended the victories of the athletes at the Tokyo Olympic Games and congratulated everyone on the Independence Day. Along with the athletes, the NOC’s leadership and coaches of the five athletes were also awarded commemorative medals.
