BOC President discusses plans with handball, basketball, swimming associations

Manama, Bahrain, September 2, 2021: His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, visited the handball, basketball and swimming associations as part of his drive to support the development of sport in the Kingdom, reports Bahrain News Agency.

HH Sheikh Khalid, who is also First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) and President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), was accompanied by HH Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the GSA and President of Bahrain Combat Sports Council, and by Dr Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, GSA CEO. 

The BOC President met with HE MP Ali Isa Ishaqi, President of Bahrain Handball Association, HE Captain Waleed Abdulhameed Al Alawi, President of Bahrain Basketball Association, and HE Consultant Dr Mohammed Ahmed Mujbal, President of Bahrain Swimming Association. 

HH Sheikh Khalid valued the great efforts exerted by the associations towards organising local competitions in order to prepare the national teams and athletes for international competition.

His Highness praised the exceptional achievements accomplished by these associations in various events and urged them to maintain their efforts in order to promote sports in the Kingdom.

The BOC President also reviewed the plans and programmes that will be carried out by the associations in order to develop the sports and upgrade the performance of the athletes at regional and international levels. 

The representatives of the three sports associations thanked HH Sheikh Khalid for the visit, stressing that it reflected His Highness's care and interest in all sports and sportspeople and stating that they shared this vision. They pledged to continue their efforts towards meeting this objective.
