Phnom Penh, Cambodia, August 31, 2021: Cambodian sports authorities are continuing to vaccinate their athletes ahead of the next two editions of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
The 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam have been postponed to spring 2022 before Cambodia hosts the 11-nation SEA Games for the first time in 2023.
With this in mind, Cambodia has been making sure that athletes, officials, coaches, volunteers and other personnel connected with the SEA Games are fully vaccinated to prepare for the post-pandemic sports environment.
The latest batch of athletes to complete the two-stage vaccination process were aged between 12 and 18, with 226 youngsters from 27 sports receiving the second jab on the morning of August 30.
This programme comes directly from the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence.
The organising committee of the 32nd SEA Games Cambodia 2023 reports that the vaccination process gives the athletes more confidence in their training and competition, and also is advantageous to attending overseas training camps.
