Olympic Voice of Hong Kong celebrates Tokyo 2020 success

Hong Kong, China, August 26, 2021: The latest edition of the newsletter of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China celebrates the delegation’s remarkable success at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Hong Kong won only their second gold medal in Olympic history – by fencer Edgar Cheung – along with two silver medals for freestyle swimmer Siobhan Haughey and three bronze medals in table tennis women’s team, track cycling and karate kata.

The 18th issue of the SF&OC newsletter “Olympic Voice of Hong Kong” was published on August 24. Its 24 pages are packed with excellent photographs capturing the excitement and glory of the Olympic Games, as well as facts and figures and other information related to Tokyo 2020.

In his introduction, SF&OC President Timothy Fok said Hong Kong had achieved unprecedented success and hailed the “sterling” performance of the athletes under intense pressure. He added that they had proved to be an inspiration to the people back home and that their achievements would enter folklore and were a benchmark for the future.

“Hong Kong is proud of its champions and all of the athletes, including those ready to rise to the next challenge. United, we go forth and prevail, and now onward to the National Games,” said President Fok.
