BWF Deputy President says badminton gold medal is ‘very proud moment’ for Indonesia

Tokyo, Japan, August 3, 2021: The Deputy President of the Badminton World Federation, Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, has sent a congratulatory message to Indonesia following their badminton gold medal at Tokyo 2020.

The IOC Member from Thailand, who is also President of the Badminton Association of Thailand, was full of praise for the women’s doubles pair of Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu following their victory on August 2. 

It was the first time Indonesia had won the women’s doubles gold at the Olympics and added to their long-term badminton success story.

“Congratulations on the badminton gold medal,” said Khunying Patama.

“I am positive that the whole country of Indonesia is delighted about this achievement in badminton. It will certainly be a very proud moment for the whole country.”

Mrs Khunying Patama is a member of the Executive Board of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand and Chair of the OCA Culture Committee.
