Tokyo, Japan, August 1, 2021: Exactly one week after winning her first gold medal of Tokyo 2020, Chinese diver Shi Tingmao received her second on Sunday afternoon at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.

Shi, 29, was in a different class on the 3m springboard, taking the individual gold medal with a score of 383.50 points.

Her partner in the women’s synchronized 3m springboard victory on Sunday, July 25, Wang Han, won the silver medal on 348.75 – over 30 points behind her teammate – and Krysta Palmer of the United States took the bronze with 343.75.

Malaysia’s Nur Dhabitah Sabri, 22, produced a tremendous display of diving to finish fourth on 326.15 in the field of 12 and has been tipped as one to watch in the future.

Shi doubled up in the 3m springboard synchro and individual for the second straight Olympic Games to take her gold medal collection to four and join diving legend Guo Jingjing, who doubled up in 2004 and 2008.

Shi is also an eight-time gold medallist and one-time silver medallist at the FINA World Aquatics Championships.

It is the ninth consecutive win for China in this event since 1988.
