Tokyo, Japan, July 26, 2021: Korea cleaned up in the archery team competitions at Tokyo 2020 on Monday by adding the men’s team title to the mixed and women’s events on the previous two days at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field.

Their team of Kim Je Deok, Kim Woojin and Oh Jinhyek beat the Chinese Taipei trio of Deng Yu-Cheng, Tang Chih-Chun and Wei Chun-Heng 6-0 in three straight sets to claim the gold medal. The highlight of their performance was the second set when all three archers twice hit the maximum score of 10 for a perfect 60 points.

In fact, 13 of their 18 arrows found the centre of the target, and the remaining five shots all yielded 9s.

Against this type of accuracy, the Chinese Taipei trio couldn’t get a look-in, even with a second-set score of 58 from four 10s and two 9s.

Kim Je Deok, just 17, was winning his second gold medal of the Olympic Games after his victory in the mixed team on Saturday and will be bidding for a hat trick in the men’s individual, as will An San in the women’s event.

Japan won the bronze medal through Takaharu Furukawa, Yuki Kawata and Hiroki Muto, who beat the Netherlands 5-4.
