Kathmandu, Nepal, July 11, 2021: The President of Nepal Olympic Committee, Hon. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, inaugurated the website of the Nepal Olympic Museum at the NOC headquarters in Satdobato, Kathmandu on July 6.
The website – sportsnepal.org – is supported by the IOC’s Olympic Solidarity programme. It was launched with the objective of covering Nepal’s participation in international competition and also highlights various aspects of Nepali sports history.
The first phase of the project, which was to digitally archive results and news of Nepal sports, got underway on November 1, 2020 with the help of US$15,000 from Olympic Solidarity.
NOC President Shrestha said the online website would connect the old and new generations of Nepali sports, and underlined the support of the NOC for this venture.
NOC General Secretary Nilendra Raj Shrestha added that archiving Nepali sports was just the beginning and assured that the process would continue.
Also present at the ceremony were NOC Vice President and Executive Director Chaturananda Raj Baidya, chairman of the Olympic Museum Kshitij Arun Shrestha, NOC Vice Presidents Jyoti Rana and Ashok Bajracharya, secretary Tulsi Thapa and members Ram Awale and Ramesh Siwakoti.
