CTOC Olympic Day events attract 60,000 participants

Taipei, June 30, 2021: Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee presented a series of “Move, Learn and Discover” events to celebrate Olympic Day on June 23.  

The activities included a “Train with Olympians” online session and “Stronger Together” - Olympic Protocol webinars. Thousands of sports enthusiasts participated in the week-long celebration leading up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. 

The June celebration kicked off with the launch of a new Olympic Day billboard on display at the Sport Joint Office Tower, home to many Chinese Taipei Olympic sports federations.  

To stay active during Covid-19 Level 3 alert measures, sports fans were invited to join Olympians from athletics, badminton, boxing, gymnastics and shooting in online fitness training sessions on Facebook and Instagram. The event drew more than 60,000 participants. 

On June 22 and 23, athletes, coaches, representatives of Chinese Taipei National Federations and sports enthusiasts participated in the Olympic Protocol seminars to learn the history of Chinese Taipei NOC’s participating in the Olympic Movement and the modern Olympic Games, as well as the latest Covid-19 prevention measures in the Playbooks set out for the Tokyo 2020 Games.  

Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 taekwondo gold and bronze medalist, Mr. Chu Mu-Yen, joined in the meeting with Olympians session to share his Olympic Games stories and experiences as an Athletes’ Committee member for Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia.
